Weekly Gratitude List

This is earlier than it would usually be as I’m home sick. I came home from work early yesterday sounding like something from The Grudge and have spent most of my time hiding in my office watching Doctor Who and Youtube videos.

What I want to be doing is cleaning; for some reason, when I’m sick all I want to do is clean (I learnt my lesson when I had the flu about four years ago; I ended up being sick for about three months because instead of resting I kept cleaning).

Mess just irritates me way more than it usually would when I can’t (shouldn’t) do anything about it – does anybody else get that? My doctor said that she gets the urge to clean when sick too.

Being sick aside, this past week has been pretty awesome. Here are some things that have made me smile.

Lights On Winter Nights:
On Friday we walked along the waterfront to have a look at the Lux Wellington Night Lights Festival with friends.

Catching up with family:
It was my nephews 5th birthday on Thursday and so he came over to our apartment for dinner with my sister. It was great catching up with them because we hardly see each other and it awesome to see the smile on his face when he opened his birthday presents (one of the presents I bought was a Captain America backpack from the Disney Store when we were in Canada). On Saturday I got to see my niece; she is the cutest baby ever!

Food:
What would a ‘things that have happened this week that are totally awesome‘ post be without mentioning food?! I may be eating less and eating healthier than I used to, but great food is still great food. On Saturday we went to La Boca Loca for lunch, and I had a pork taco and ceviche. On Sunday we made some vegan/gluten free pizza bases using the Bunner’s cookbook and holy shit that was the best pizza base I’ve ever had.

Now that that’s out of the way, I think I’m going to curl up in a chair, drink some tea and watch Easy A and maybe take a nap.
