When Genie of Bunny Eats Design asked if I wanted to take part in the Wanderlust Tag, I knew I had to do it. About two years ago I realised I had a serious case of wanderlust and made ‘get out of Wellington more often’ a goal of mine. Despite travelling a fair bit over the past few years, getting out of town is still a goal of mine (I think it’s safe to say that I’ve been bitten by the travel bug); there’s just so much to see and do.
Where was your first plane to?
I think my first flight ever was to Tonga when I was five, to see family. I didn’t fly anywhere else until I was 20 and I went to Auckland with a friend when we went to see Missy Elliott in concert.
Where have you travelled that you would love to visit again?
Toronto. We went to Canada last July and I fell in love with that city. I think it was mainly because of the food; there were so many gluten free options/ready-to-buy green juices, I was in heaven. I was so sad when we had to leave. Also, it’s a lot bigger than Wellington, as much as I love this city, the smallness gets to me a little sometimes.
Your leaving tomorrow, money is no object – where are you going?
The Maldives. I really want to stay at a water villa at six Senses Laamu, but it’s SO expensive. I have been obsessed with The Maldives ever since I saw this video (it looks amazing):
Preferred method of travel; planes, trains, or car?
It depends on where I’m going/how long the journey will be. Generally though, I prefer to travel by plane or car. I don’t mind travelling by train, and really hate travelling by bus. My longest bus journey was a 12hr ride from Auckland to Wellington when I was a kid; never again.
Favourite travel website?
I don’t really read travel blogs, but I do enjoy Young Adventuress; I really liked Liz’s post about speaking like a New Zealander, it was pretty accurate.
Where would you travel just to eat food?
Off the top of my head, Thailand, Vietnam or India. I LOVE spicy food and there are a huge amount of gluten free dishes.
IS there a place you would never go again?
I can’t think of anywhere, I haven’t (touch wood) had a bad travel experience, yet.
Can you recite your passport number if asked?
Nope; my passport is fairly new and I wouldn’t have the faintest clue (unintentional rhyming ftw)
Do you prefer Window, Aisle, or Middle Seat?
It depends on how long I’m travelling; if it’s five hours or less. I love the widow seat. If it’s more than five hours the aisle (having to wake someone up so you can use the bathroom sucks, even if you are travelling with he person).
How do you pass the time of the aeroplane?
Drawing, reading and playing in my iPad and iPhone (I make sure that they’re fully charged, with a decent amount of games and music downloaded and that I noise cancelling headphones).
Where would you like to travel? Are there any travel plans on the horizon, if so, where are you planning on going? I would love to know. XX

It’s on my bucket list too, it looks amazing :)
Toronto would be incredible! And the Maldives would be so beautiful! x
Toronto was amazing, I really want to get back there sometime soon :)
The Maldives looks SO beautiful!
OMG, Doug and I just watched that video and now we want to go to the Maldives. SO BEAUTIFUL! So pricey to stay at that place though. Might have to save for a while…
I know right? I’ve been obsessed with it ever since I saw that video, Phillip doesn’t like water too much, but if we save the money, I’m definitely dragging him along (I’m sure he’d love it :D)
Toronto is incredible, isn’t it?! I went there in September and absolutely loved it. Did you make it to Niagara Falls?
Toronto is amazing, right? I’m hoping to go again, I’m hoping either autumn or winter next time (pumpkin spice lattes and bath & body works candles!!!)
YRS! We went to niagara, it was beautiful (the touristy part up the hill scared me a bit) did you make it to the falls as well? Xx
Thanks for the new travel blogs to look into! Also I totally agree about the Maldives, that looks amazing!!! Was great to read your answers :)
No problem, and thanks :) xx
THE MALDIVES. Yes! Doesn’t it look perfect?! I completely forgot to add it to my ‘Wanderlust’ wish list but oh, it’s definitely on my real life one!
Doesn’t the Maldives looks amazing?! It’s on my list to go to too. I haven’t traveled a lot, but I went to Rarotonga last year for my honeymoon and I really enjoyed that. Beautiful beaches, and so relaxing.
I haven’t travelled much either. I definitely want to go to Samoa though, I have family there and the beaches look awesome xx
