While we were on our South Island road trip, we spent in a night in Kaikoura. We booked all our accommodation for the trip, except for the hotel in Queenstown (which we booked in September) about a month beforehand. In Kaikoura we booked a yurt at a place called Wacky Stays (you can check out their website here), and I’m not going to lie, while sleeping in a yurt was a great experience, the main reason I wanted to stay there was because they also had a farm, and on that farm they had llamas.
In today’s post, I wanted to share some of my favourite photos from our time at Wacky Stays with you Continue reading →
We like big things in New Zealand, apparently. They’re pretty much everywhere, so while we were road tripping around the South Island I took as many photos of (and with) the big things we saw during our trip as I could (yeah, I know it’s cheesy, but a little cheesiness is a great thing), and in today’s post, I am sharing big things we saw on our holiday with you. Last month Phillip and I went to Queenstown for a wedding, it was the first time I had really been to the South Island, so we decided to make a road trip out of it (other road trip posts can be found here)
I am so glad we decided to road trip around the South Island rather than fly in and fly out, because I had such an amazing time and would do it all again in a heartbeat (the only downside to the trip was probably getting stuck behind a crazy-ass driver while going over the Lindis Pass when we were heading to Ashburton; it was fucking terrifying) Continue reading →
We were in Dunedin over the weekend for a friend’s wedding; had never really been to the South Island before and was really excited about seeing more of the country.
I’m not going to lie though, I was kind of expecting not to like Dunedin; a friend had hated it, and I was scared that I would too. It’s safe to say I was pleasantly surprised; I had a great time and really want to go back for another visit soon (We’ll be in Queenstown in March, and I keep asking Phillip if we’ll be able to make a stop over in Dunedin; despite it not being anywhere we’ve planned to go)
While we were in Dunedin, we did a bit of shopping, went to Toitū, the Otago Museum, the esplanade and Larnach Castle (this is where the wedding was, and holy shit, it’s stunning – I told Phillip that if we ever had a ‘proper’ wedding, this is where we would have it).
I wanted to share some of my favourite photos from our time away with you (there’s also some vlogs from our trip at the end of this post, just in case you wanna watch them) Continue reading →
Yesterday Phillip and I took a trip to the zoo; were supposed to go on New Year’s day but both ended up with the flu and spent most of last week either in bed, or feeling to gross to do much.
I am such a kid when it comes to visiting the zoo; Wellington zoo have a section called ‘Neighbours’ which is Australian walkthrough precinct, where a lot of animals kind of roam free. There was a kangaroo chilling out, and I kept wondering if I could pat it (I didn’t, I did however get to pat an emu, and it made my day).
I took a few photos while were there, and wanted to share my favourite ones with you (there’s a video at the end of the post which includes the aforementioned emu patting, if you would like to watch it) . Continue reading →
